Coral Project: Commenting
Background
In collaboration with partners in our newsroom, run a limited test using the Coral Project's open-source "Talk" commenting platform.
This test is slated to run for 45-60 days across 23 participating markets. These markets will be segmented into groups using the following conditions:
Control (keep Facebook comments)
Remove comments section entirely
Coral's Talk platform (registered users only)
Coral's Talk platform (subscribers only)
Goals
Deprecate Facebook commenting and integrate a new commenting solution (third-party or proprietary).
Increase USATN’s base of registered users by requiring users to authenticate with a GUP account in order to comment on an article.
Integrate commenting with GUP to gain actionable insights regarding users’ site behavior, serve them with opportunities to deepen their engagement with our site experience and convert them into paid subscribers.
Create a more positive commenting experience, facilitating thoughtful and respectful discussion, community engagement and deeper relationships with USATN journalists.
My Role
Competitive analysis to understand how other media sources are handling on platform commenting.
Produce user flows and wireframes to create an ideal commenting experience based on user behavior.
Build high-fidelity prototypes for mobile and desktop user testing, run user tests to confirm user behavior.
VQA developed product before A/B Testing.
